Benito Mussolini was born here in 1883 and is buried here. Everything here recalls the presence of the Duce, who modified the structure of the streets, transformed his childhood home into a town hall and had a family crypt built in the old cemetery for his eternal rest. During his ten years as mayor, the left-wing mayor Giorgio Frassineti, who was installed in the same office occupied by the organizer of the "March on Rome" in 1922, fought to convert the old Casa del fascio, which once housed the offices of the dictator's party, into a museum dedicated to the crimes of fascism.
